Chris Baumgardner has been the Executive Director of Alcona Citizens for Health since 1985. Under her directorship, ACH, a Federally Qualified Health Center, has grown from one clinic site with 2 practitioners to 18 clinics in 5 counties of the Northern half of Michigan’s lower peninsula and 1 county in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She is active in her communities, serving on the Community Foundation board of directors and the Lutheran church council in addition to serving on many health related boards and advisory councils throughout the state. She held the office of President of a Michigan Medicaid HMO and is the chief negotiator for the Memorandum of Agreement/Payment Transformation Reform initiative between the MI FQHCs and the Department of Community Health.
Chris holds a Masters degree from Southern Illinois University in English. Her past careers include teaching composition at the college level and Director of the Northeast Michigan Area Agency on Aging. Chris lives in Harrisville with her husband of 46 years and enjoys singing in her church choir, the outdoors, travel and her children and grandchildren.
